Child Life Specialist I

Inova Health System's Fairfax Medical Campus is seeking a PRN Child Life Specialist to join our team providing safe and therapeutic Child Life services in a holistic and systematic way to patients and families our Level 1 Trauma Center located in Falls Church, VA This position is PRN and will work day shifts as needed primarily weekends working about 1 - 2 weekends per month.

Job Responsibilities including but not limited to:

• Provides Child Life services for all pediatric patients, sibling/family support and interventions. Provides one on one support and helps patients cope with stresses of hospitalization.
• Develops individual program of activities. Makes clinical decisions in collaboration with healthcare team based on theoretical knowledge and baseline clinical experience measured by patient satisfaction scores, length of stay data and the Child Life database.
• Assists in establishing policies/procedure, goals, and a statement of purpose. Assists in facilitating the utilization of community groups, entertainment, celebrity visitors and public relations program within the community.

Requirements for consideration:

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree
• Eligible to sit for the Child Life Council Certification Exam
