Description

The Food for Thought Foundation is a 501(c)(3) young nonprofit dedicated to empowering food insecurity communities with resilient and reliable resources. Our current work surrounds developing innovative technological solutions for agricultural production while championing grassroots community efforts through educational programming. This effort culminates through our flagship program, Farms for Thought, which deploys vertical farms and an agricultural technology curriculum in schools to create local food distribution networks.

Job Description

The Food for Thought Foundation seeks additional board members with a wide range of diverse professional experience who can contribute to the development of our mission.

Expectations of Individual Board Members

We expect each board member to:

  • Know the organization s mission, policies, programs, and needs.
  • Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in board meetings.
  • Faithfully read and understand the organization s financial statements and board materials in advance of meetings.
  • Participate fully in one or more committees or task forces.
  • Engage in learning opportunities to better understand the community our organization serves.
  • Respect the experiences of all who bring their voices and lived experiences on the board and into the organization.
  • Serve as active advocates and ambassadors for the organization and fully engage in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for The Food for Thought Foundation to advance its mission.
  • Leverage connections, networks, and resources to develop collective action.
  • Help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization s fundraising and reputational standing.

We are looking for mission-aligned individuals with strong collaboration, communication, implementation, and development skills, and expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Secondary Education Management (Principles, Administrators, etc.)
  • Fundraising
  • Agricultural Technology
  • Research
  • Grant Writing
  • Educational Sales
