Assists in the daily clinical operations of the Preop/PACU in accordance with established federal, state and accreditation standards and facility policies and procedures. Participates in direct patient care including maintaining a clean, orderly and safe environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Work in fast paced environment
- Applies the principles of aseptic technique and prescribed procedures to competently perform technician functions
- Adheres to the sterilization process policies and procedures
- Demonstrates the knowledge and skill necessary to provide appropriate care for patients of various age groups
- Adheres to the procedure requirements and technician functions approved for the facility
- Responds to emergency situations with competence and composure
- Performs required maintenance of instruments, supplies and equipment by adhering to cleaning, care, utilization and sterilization procedures as directed
- Performs required biological monitoring tests on all sterilizers according to established policy and procedures
- Reports observed or suspected safety violations, hazards, and policy and procedure non-compliance to the Safety Coordinator or other designated person.
- Exhibit a high degree of maturity, integrity, loyalty, creativity, and strict confidentiality with HIPPA compliance in all daily tasks.
- Assesses patient/significant others understanding of disease process and need for surgical intervention
- Provides safe medication administration
- Manages patient complications/emergencies preoperatively and postoperatively
- Manages and documents-controlled substance inventory
- Utilizes aseptic technique and infection control principles to establish and maintain intravenous access
- Reports significant patient information to medical staff appropriately
- Documents patient response during postoperative period
What We Expect From You
Required
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing
- Current RN license
PREFERRED ADDITIONAL
- Two (2) years of clinical experience with an emphasis in PACU, surgery or ER
- Ambulatory surgery center experience
- Knowledge of regulatory standards
- Electronic Medical Record Experience
- BLS
