Arcadis is seeking a Staff Geologist/Scientist/Engineer to support our Resilience - Environment team and specifically help to lead and grow the emergency response (aka "Incident Response & Recovery"; IRR) group in the Pacific Northwest area. As a Staff Geologist/Scientist/Engineer, you will be helping to plan and implement environmental investigation and remediation projects from the office and field (e.g., long term remediation projects) as well as support and respond to IRR events (e.g., releases and train derailments). Involvement in the IRR group will allow for immediate involvement with client, contractor, and regulatory partners, as well as the national IRR team of Arcadis, for which you would be a regional leader in IRR.

Role Accountabilities:

Safety

- the priority at Arcadis. You will be responsible for yourself, Arcadis staff, contractors, and anyone else at a project site. Identifying and controlling hazards, and knowing when to stop work, will be a primary task at all sites

Leading IRR efforts for emergency responses (e.g., supporting clients by documenting incident details and site activities, coordinating contractors, overseeing first responder contractors, tracking waste, and managing onsite safety).

Leading environmental investigations and remediation projects (e.g., groundwater monitoring well installations and monitoring, heavy equipment and construction oversight, soil boring logging, sampling, remedial excavation oversight and sampling, utility surveys, site inspections, surface water and/or sediment sampling, etc.)

Planning remedial events (e.g., developing work plans, permitting, cost estimates, contracting, scheduling, laboratory coordination, waste management, etc.)

Report preparation (e.g., figure generation, data management, technical writing, etc.)

Evaluating data to support the development and refinement of conceptual site models and optimizing long-term monitoring programs

Ensuring tasks are completed in accordance with all Federal, State, Local, and client-specific health and safety requirements

Delegating to and mentoring junior staff on safety and technical topics

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Geological Sciences, Environmental/Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Emergency Management, or a related discipline

Personable with excellent communication skills

Performs well under pressure. Able to balance full field and office workload

Ability to support immediate mobilization to regional job sites as incidents are identified

4-6 years of consulting/remediation experience

4-6 years of field experience, of which emergency response was a component of the work

Preferred Qualifications:

ICS-100 and ICS-200 training
