Total Wine & More is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Digital/E-Commerce team in Boca Raton, FL or Bethesda, MD. We are passionate about building scalable performant cloud-based web applications, while continuously developing new features to enrich our customer experience. In this role, you will be able to leverage in-depth software expertise to build reusable components and performant services. You will work closely with product owners, UX designers, and other developers to translate design mocks into actionable technical requirements and ultimately clean, functional code. Curiosity and a customer-focused mindset are encouraged as many features will be released behind a feature flag or as part of an A/B test. You will drive for continuous optimization of security and performance, while tackling the exciting challenges of integrating personalization on a heavily cached serverside rendered e-commerce site and app. You will report to the Director of Engineering.

You will

• Collaborate with product managers, backend engineers, test automation engineers, UX designers, and scrum masters to continuously improve functionality enhancing our customer experience.
• Develop modular frontend web and mobile applications.
• Develop and update the shared component libraries that enable our teams to iterate quickly.
• Write performant, maintainable, and testable code.
• Mentor and coach mid-level and junior-level developers.
• Using a mobile-first mentality, translate functional requirements into responsive components and pages.
• Champion accessibility best practices.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, identify, and resolve production issues.
• Willingness and agility to learn new technologies and adapt to and drive change
• Embody a strong sense of ownership when working in complex cross-team/cross-platform initiatives
• Provide solutions to overcome challenges and avoid risks with minimal oversight/guidance
• Have fun in a close knit team is family type of environment

• 4-5+ years as an experienced developer working with established production environments
• 4+ years of experience of React or React Native, especially function components capitalizing on hooks.
• 1+ years of experience with statically typed language (Go, C, C++, Rust, etc).
• Familiarity with serverside rendering (SSR), asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and RESTful APIs.
• Solid coding practices including regular code reviews, documentation, and version control.
• Passion for keeping up to speed with the latest software tools and methodologies.
• Intellectual curiosity and strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Preference for agile development and familiarity with its tools like Jira.
