Assistant Behavior Support Specialist

Job description

Job Summary

As an Assistant Behavior Support Specialist you will assist in the development and training of other RBTs within the center, oversee the preschool program as well as assist the BCBAs with intakes and assessments.

Essential Functions:
  • Provide support to other Behavior Technicians
  • Assist BCBAs with completing assessments and re-evaluations
  • Implement initial and ongoing training for Behavior Technicians
  • Provide coverage for direct therapy sessions for callouts and PTO
  • Identifies and pursues opportunities to take on additional responsibility
  • Take part in the development and facilitation of client learning materials
  • Responsible for oversight of Preschool Program
  • Creates training schedules for new hires
  • Takes lead role in resolving conflict between other Behavior Technicians
  • Identifies and pursues new ways to incorporate MAC values into processes and best practices
  • Supports junior technicians in interpreting data and deriving actionable insights
  • Uses evidence with BCBAs to suggest treatment plan adjustments
  • Identifies ways to involve junior technicians in projects that enhance efficiency and quality of sessions
  • Safety Care Trainer for your clinic


Requirements

Education, Experience and Skills:
  • Must be an RBT for at least 9 months and have been actively working with clients for 9 months and as served in the role of either Senior RBT or Lead RBT at MAC, if appropriate
  • Must have completed or are currently enrolled in graduate degree in ABA/related field and pursuing certification as a BCBA
  • Must be able to close at least 3 nights/week
  • Must have availability from 8:00am-5:30pm on weekdays
  • 18 years of age
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Have knowledge of use of modern technology, i.e. PC, Mac, iPad or other tablets. Training will be provided on the systems used
  • Working knowledge of basic technology: windows operating systems, iOS, word, excel, PowerPoint, email, tablets and computers
  • Ability to change one's own behavior as directed by the BCBA
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Have a basic knowledge of autism
  • Be willing to learn and grow in the field of applied behavior analysis
  • Be willing to become QBS certified


Minimum Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand and move for 75% of the day
  • Use of hearing, hands and eyes 100% of the workday
  • Stamina and ability to work all assigned hours
  • Ability to move freely, quickly and frequently from a sitting (on the floor or in a chair) to standing position and lift up to 30 lbs. routinely
