Senior Accountant

Job description

Overview The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining the general ledgers, preparing financial statements, month end close procedures, balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and analyzing financial data. This position will be performed from the corporate office in Chantilly, VA five days/week. Perform month-end review of financial statements. Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations. Assist other corporate and field departments with general ledger and financial reporting questions, including making recommendations to management regarding accounting topics. Assist with the quarter-end and year-end financial close and reporting process. Assist with preparation of information for year-end tax package. Prepare process documentation. Propose solutions and improvements in processes including automation of manual steps where possible. Prepare Statement of Operations, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash flows, and other customized reports as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required 5 years' experience in accounting or related field required Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills required Microsoft Excel macro skill is a plus Active CPA or pursuing CPA preferred, but not required Strong written and oral communication skills required Strong organizational and analytical skills required ASC842 Operating Lease & Finance Lease experience preferred Cash & Accounts Receivable experience preferred Fixed Asset (Sage/FAS) experience is a plus Blackline and/or Peoplesoft experience is a plus Detail oriented and possess a sense of urgency Ability to navigate through ambiguities and work both individually and collaboratively Amiable and passionate about maintaining effective working relationships About CORT CORT, a part of Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway, is the nation's leading provider of transition services, including furniture rental for home and office, event furnishings, destination services, apartment locating, touring and other services.
