Black Spectacles is an ambitious group of 25 fully remote teammates with the goal of growing to 75 over the next two years to support our purpose of helping architects thrive in their careers, trying to achieve big things to support the architecture community.

To keep that momentum going strong, we're on the hunt for an Architect to join the Black Spectacles learning team as a go-to subject matter expert. As an Architect Educational Specialist, youll guide the direction of our learning content by advising on all things architecture as we improve our ARE test prep content and build new products.

You will:

• Collaborate with other Learning Team members, including learning designers and other architects, to research and develop content for study materials. Youll be at the helm of ideating and writing test prep content and working with video and motion graphics teams to make tough architectural concepts come to life.
• Maintain, evaluate, and support all instructional assets: quizzes, practice exams, flashcards, and study guides
• Identify areas for improvement and assist in the design, development, and delivery of new course content or learning features that meet the needs of our customers.
• Be responsible for the ongoing QA of Black Spectacles content, particularly ensuring the accuracy of practice exam and quiz questions and clarifying customer issues when needed.
• Help aspiring architects overcome common struggle areas on the ARE 5.0 exams via virtual workshops. Our weekly workshops enable participants to study smarter under the direction of an expert guide (you!). Well provide training and lesson plans. Then youll put your communication and mentorship skills to use leading virtual sessions focused on a specific exam division. Youll guide the group through carefully crafted exercises, facilitate discussion, clarify difficult concepts, and offer advice for tackling the exams with confidence. Youll also address follow up questions on our online discussion forum, the Black Spectacles ARE Community. Ultimately, youll play a huge role in our mission to support aspiring architects on their paths to licensure.

Requirements

You might be a great fit if:

• You are a licensed architect with at least 3 years of experience
• You have experience managing multiple commercial projects from start to finish (including bidding, SD, DD, and CA)
• You love learning new things: you're excited to dive deep into reference materials and resources to determine the information that is the most pertinent to the exam, and how to present it.
• You are skilled in communicating difficult concepts and theories related to architecture
• You're willing to be accountable to our customers success, you encourage and respect your teammates, and you're careful and thoughtful with your work. You also appreciate and value the power of great design.
• You have a strong desire to help architects on their path to licensure
• You have experience designing, developing, and producing e-learning content, including storyboards and videos
• Preferred, but not required: you have experience teaching, mentoring, or helping others prepare for the ARE.
