Job description

BASIC FUNCTION:
Provide support for the EMPOWER project, a grant funded part of the Pediatric Hematology/HIV Research Unit and Howard University Stigma Project (located in Howard University Hospital); 20 hours per week, hybrid (Majority of hours will be in office)
SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY:
Immediate supervisors: Project Director and Family Advocate; Overall Supervisor: Unit Director (Sohail Rana, MD)
NATURE AND SCOPE:
Howard University, and subcontractor Health HIV, a premier national HIV non profit, are collaborating on this multipronged HIV Prevention and Education project, combining education, community engagement, and the arts. We will develop and implement innovative programming through webinars, podcasts, mentorship, blogs, fashion and arts workshops, creating a path to empowerment for Black women.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Empower Project Implementation
Assist with recruitment of project participants, especially Howard University students
Assist the Project Director with coordination of the Women's workgroup and the Blog
Work with the Howard University communications team on the implementation of EMPOWER social media effort
Assist with publicity of project trainings and events
Assist with planning and implementation of conferences and special events Assist with maintenance and expansion of social media efforts surrounding the International Conference of Stigma and other special events to ensure publicity to Black women Assist with administrative tasks- this may include copying, organizing, returning calls, limited data entry, and basic design assistance with surveys and flyers
CORE COMPETENCIES:
Exceptional communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
Keen attention to detail and an aptitude for problem-solving
Excellent computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite, and social media
Collaborative working style and team-player attitude, but able to work independently
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or GED; Associates or Bachelors desirable. Relevant volunteer or work experience in the industry preferred. Community health workers, public health students, and others with lived or professional experience with HIV encouraged to apply.
