Inova Alexandria Hospital is seeking Surgical First Assistant to support the department full time. A beautiful Community Hospital located in the city of Alexandria is equipped with 11 OR suites and 4 Endoscopy Suites. Comprehensive range of surgical specialties to include, orthopedics-total joints, sports medicine, spine, general ENT, gynecology, urology, plastics, vascular, neurosurgery, podiatry, and maxillofacial. $10,000 sign on bonus eligible

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

* Provides safe therapeutic care by collaboration with surgeons and health care team in performing a safe operation with optimal outcomes for the patient Provides individual, patient-centered approach to patients with a wide range of diagnoses.

* Must have acquired the necessary knowledge, skills and judgment specific to clinical practice.

* Teamwork-communicates effectively and works cooperatively with others Maintain strong and open communication skills.

* Has respect for and understanding of other clinical disciplines

* Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice, serves as a resource preceptor, and mentor

Requirements:

* Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Surgical First Assistant or 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience

* Education and Licensure: Must be licensed as a Surgical Assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia at the time of hire

* Certification: BLS via American Heart Association

* Preferred experience: Ortho, Robotics, and Plastics

* A current credential as a surgical assistant or surgical first assistant issued by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or the National Commission for Certification of Surgical Assistants (NCCSA) or their successors
