D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Server Administrator I-AS400. The right candidate will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of multiple partitions on multiple AS400 systems for DR Horton and Forestar. The Server Administrator I-AS400 also actively assists to resolve problems and issues with minimal disruption to Operations within DR Horton and Forestar companies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Participate in the planning, scheduling and performing proactive maintenance including AS400 Operating System (OS400), 3rd party software, and PTF installation
Assist in monitoring and performing maintenance of communication and replication between production and DR Horton partitions
Aid in performing preventive scheduled maintenance and IPL of iSeries systems to ensure optimum performance levels
Train to be responsible for timely backups of all partitions using BRMS
Ensure backup tapes are maintained offsite and recycled in accordance with DR Horton standards
Participate in regular backup operations and assist in implementing appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures
Provide both external and internal auditors with snapshots of backups as requested
Provide support for the escalation and communication of status to management and internal customers
Work with cross-functional project teams to implement highly available solutions
Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
Ability to participate in on call rotation
Ability to work overtime
Ability to regularly work overnight
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Zero to four years of AS400 administration experience
Knowledge of OS400 and replication tools
Ability to work individually or as part of a team
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
Proficiency with MS Office and email
Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred
Experience in supporting High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions a plus
Experience working on a matrix team consisting of a variety of Operation groups a plus
Knowledge of BRMS (Backup Management software for AS400) preferred
