Job Summary
Under direction of the Safety Director, provides guidance and support for all employee to ensure compliance with local, State, and Federal regulations regarding safety and health. Responds to and assists with critical incidents that involve employees. The Safety Manager enforces all Digging & Rigging policies and procedures as such.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards, pointedly OSHA 1926; local and State safety regulations; Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA); and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Ability to conduct employee trainings in First Aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and other trainings as needed. Must be highly motivated and able to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to work under pressure effectively, adapt to an ever-changing schedule in a fast-paced environment, and ability to lift and carry equipment. Demonstrates strong customer focus skills, effective documentation, team work, detail-oriented, and communication skills. Excellent oral and written communications and human relations skills.
Education, Training, and Experience
High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of five years of safety experience. Must have OSHA 500 and 510 and First Aid and CPR instructor certifications. Possession of a valid class C driver's license. Experience in the general maintenance of grounds and equipment with experience in industry experience preferred. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience, which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform in the position may be considered.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities
- Enforce all company safety policies.
- Work closely with field and management to ensure safety compliance.
- Monitor safety and health of employees, both in their assigned yard locations as well as on job sites.
- Conduct regular inspections of assigned yards and job sites and communicate any observed deficiencies to management.
- Ensure monthly regulatory equipment inspections are conducted.
- Hold safety meetings on a regular basis for all employees in assigned yard location.
- Regulate and monitor DOT compliance for all commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers in assigned yard location.
- Investigate thoroughly, document, and report all accidents, injuries, and near misses to management and insurance carrier.
- Organize and maintain safety-related documents to be sent to the Safety Department Coordinator on a regular basis for recordkeeping.
- Performs related assignments as required.

Special Requirements
- Must have enough physical strength and stamina to lift, move, and/or manipulate objects up to 50 pounds.
- Position requires standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and the completion of work may require physical exertion. Exposure to inclement weather is possible.
- Possible extended work days, long hours, and long-distance travel of more than 50 miles may be required.
- Wearing of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must be reliable, punctual, and able to function at a high level as part of a team.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
