Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Department Manager role is responsible for leading and managing the day-to-day operations of the Mission Critical Facilities department, an integrated design team focused on data center building design services including electrical, mechanical, architectural and fire protection. This senior position requires an absolute commitment and dedication to the growth and development of junior and intermediate staff, and a desire to take a leadership role within an established, privately held and employee-owned consulting engineering firm.

The successful candidate is a seasoned professional within the consulting engineering industry, has a name synonymous with service excellence and earned reputation for leading complex projects and delivering results on behalf of your clients. With a pre-disposition to teamwork and mentorship, you will strengthen the firm's development of junior and intermediate staff and with your industry perspective you will guide the firm's future directions.

Responsibilities:
  • Be primarily responsible for the overall profitability and productivity of the Baltimore Mission Critical Facilities (MCF) Electrical Engineering design team.
  • Maintain and develop client relationships needed to successfully sustain and grow our mission critical facilities engineering and design group (MCF).
  • Provide team oversight to ensure operations and business goals are met.
  • Provide operational reporting, planning and input in support of the overall MCF team in US, Canada and India to the Director of Operations.
  • Provide project delivery leadership as needed (with a focus on inter-disciplinary design management) utilizing proven project delivery experience and integrated multi-disciplinary design expertise to the department project portfolio.
  • Provide leadership to technical leads on resource management requirements with emphasis on team culture, workload management, Health Safety and Environment initiatives and policy, and Human Resource initiatives and policy.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineering License and willing stamp drawings
  • 10 years' experience in the industry and 3+ years of management experience
  • Experience with delivery of Mission Critical Projects/Data Centers is a plus but is not required. Experience with similar complex delivery requirements is acceptable
  • An excellent communicator; articulate and persuasive in dealing with others
  • Capable of developing and communicating MCF business vision to team
  • Leads by example with a strong work ethic; focused on meeting all project deadlines without compromised quality
  • Has a good understanding of business finance and a proven track record of profitable projects
  • Can motivate and engage team members to achieve business and personal objectives
  • Acts with sense of purpose; responds to clients with a sense of urgency
  • Ability to expand market awareness and client base for the MCF engineering services
