PURPOSE OF POSITION

Assists the AVP of Commercial Lending to effectively manage risk in the wholesale finance portfolio by developing and administering audit and dealer risk policies and procedures and to oversee the daily functions of Commercial Lending Operations. Also responsible for developing sound due diligence procedures that mitigate risk and minimize loss exposure.

In supporting the organizational objectives, this position will participate in development and implementation of new member business loan products and services and participate in the general management of the organization. Ensure business lending practices are in compliance with credit union policy, procedures, laws, and regulations.

Underwrite business loan applications, evaluate applicants' financial status, using sound judgement, advising on different loan options and assessing financial information, collaborate with other financial institution on preparing loan packages with other credit union participants.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Responsible for developing, reviewing, measuring, and reporting on all facets of the Member Business Lending department.

Establishes and implements policies, and operating procedures; monitors and evaluates program effectiveness; effects changes required for improvement.

Remains cognizant of and adheres to Andrews Federal policies and procedures, and regulations.

Directs the day-to-day operation of lending, compliance, loan audit, loan servicing, and all aspects of collections stateside and overseas.

Oversee audits and risk and ensure controls are in place.

Formulates the design and delivery of loan products and services and evaluating results.

Ensures that loan services, loan audits, and compliance issues are handled according to policy and goals.

Evaluates departmental performance in achieving production, service, and budget targets.

Coordinate with outside legal counsel on all accounts requiring legal interaction.

Develop loan proposals for complex loan participation packages; Lead the development and analysis of financial background information to assess viability of large, complex commercial loans.

Establish standards for credit underwriting and credit administration based on standard credit union lending practices and policies.

Work with Member Business Lending partners to structure loans accordingly and create loan packages to ensure legal compliance with documents.

Closely monitors the new commercial loan pipeline and related loan workflow to ensure loan requests are acted upon in a timely manner.

Utilize expertise in determining extension of lines of credit to business members.

Provide friendly, professional, timely and accurate service and support to all members and associates. Provide staff with continuous guidance on business lending policies and procedures.

Promote new services to current clients and retain existing business by personal contacts.

Attends Board meetings and reports on assigned areas of responsibility as requested by the President/CEO

Interacts with co-workers, supervisors, members, and outside contacts in an appropriate, professional manner, which projects a positive image of the department and Andrews Federal.

Oversee junior underwriters' daily performance, offers guidance, and identifies coaching opportunities.

Other duties as assigned and as needed.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent knowledge required

Five to seven years' management and underwriting experience with consumer, credit, and real estate lending functions in a large credit union or banking environment is required.

Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal lending laws required.

Ability to solve problems of substantial variety and complexity.

Ability to undertake tasks broad in nature, requiring ingenuity and originality.

Ability to operate independently, and exercise significant latitude for independent judgment, discretion, and action.

Experience working in complex environments with a high degree of organizational effectiveness.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.

Excellent verbal, written, and exceptional organizational skills required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time.

Must be able to use personal computer, telephone, and all relevant Microsoft and related software applications.
