Overview Easterseals offers a unique opportunity for a highly motivated and accomplished professional to join its team as Vice President of Human Resources. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished executive with excellent communication skills who can be both a strategic leader advancing the organization s Best Place to Work initiatives, as well as tightly managing compliance and HR processes. Jon Horowitch, President & CEO Jon Horowitch was appointed President & CEO of Easterseals DC MD VA in 2017, after serving as the organization s COO for five years. As an entrepreneurial leader, Jon works with the Easterseals team to create solutions for the community s most pressing and emerging needs. Before joining Easterseals, Mr. Horowitch had a long career in the for-profit sector at such companies as Capital One, Global Crossing, Credit Suisse, and AT Kearney, and served on the Easterseals DC MD VA Board of Directors, as well as other volunteer positions. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and with honors in History from Williams College. He was recently selected as one of the Nation s Finest 50 Award Recipients for his service to veterans. Senior Leadership Team The Senior Leadership Team (SLT) brings an array of expertise, competencies, perspectives, and personality traits to the organization. The Opportunity Reporting to the President & CEO, the Vice President of Human Resources will serve as a key member of and strong business partner to the SLT. The Vice President of Human Resources will be a seasoned business leader who shares our organizational core values and has a demonstrated ability to: be both a strategic leader establishing and driving the HR vision and building a high-performance organization and an operational executive who ensures compliance with all legal and plan requirements/continuously enhances policies, procedures, and systems continuously enhance the capabilities of employees in and culture of the organization through effective recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance management communicate effectively and build relationships both inside and outside the organization, particularly the Board and the other members of the SLT, to understand their needs/provide effective support and drive buy-in for HR priorities develop the members of his or her team manage multiple priorities and meet project timelines K ey Responsibilities The Vice President of Human Resources will provide executive leadership and vision to the Human Resources team, building their capabilities to continuously enhance Easterseals employee relations, culture, and compliance as well as achieve our strategic aspiration to be a best place to work. He or she must also be a hands-on, operational manager and decision maker who leads by example. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Strategic HR Leadership: Oversee talent management for all Easterseals locations and programs continuously enhance policies, procedures, systems, and training to ensure effectiveness and compliance related to: Recruiting Onboarding Performance Management Training / Staff Development Compensation and Benefits Employee Voice / Culture Develop and manage policies, procedures, and process improvements to ensure that HR strategies and practices align with organizational business goals and objectives Lead resolution of workplace conflicts and other employee issues Organizational Leadership: Serve as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, actively contributing to the overall strategy, governance, and performance of the organization Promote Easterseals customer-centric, employee-supportive culture throughout the organization Serve as an active contributor to strategic planning Compliance and Administration: Administer and oversee all human resources programs such as compensation, benefits, workers compensation, and retirement plans. Ensure the organization s compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and oversee audits of all HR functions Review and modify policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency in compliance Review, evaluate, and oversee all HR-related vendor relationships, including among others payroll and benefits, third-party administrators, and systems consultants Personal Characteristics The successful candidate will be a thoughtful, strategic, and decisive individual with a strong drive for results who applies a disciplined approach to continuously enhancing processes, systems, documentation, and training.
