Salary Scale: AFSCME UA3, Grade 4-5



EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
  • High school diploma or general educational degree (GED).
  • General knowledge of Title I, Part A and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Works flexible hours, as needed.
  • Deals courteously and tactfully with CCPS employees, parents/families, students, outside agencies and the general public.
  • Treats people with respect; works with integrity and ethically; upholds school system values.
  • Manages difficult or emotional situations involving parents/families, students and school staff.
  • Respond to requests for services and assistance; keeps commitments.
  • Follows policies and procedures; prioritizes and plans work activities; completes tasks correctly and on time.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness; applies feedback to improve performance; monitors own work to ensure quality.
  • Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; able to read and interpret written information.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Apply Joyce L. Epstein's Six Types of Involvement to develop a comprehensive family engagement program.
  • Serve as a liaison to parents/families and teachers to remove barriers to promote student achievement.
  • Serve as a member of the school planning team.
  • Assist in the development of the 4 Components of a School-wide Plan and family engagement budget.
  • Collaborate with school staff and parents/families to develop the Home-School Compact and Family Engagement Plan.
  • Plan and attend school-based family engagement workshops to meet the needs of parent/families.
  • Conduct parent training sessions and coordinate activities related to student achievement.
  • Distribute instructional materials to families.
  • Maintain a Family Resource Center.
  • Disseminate survey data to establish needs and improve the school-level.
  • Establish community partnerships.
  • Enlist families and community members to volunteer within the school.
  • Attend school and community meetings, such as Parent Advisory Council and PTO meetings, as needed.
  • Coordinate with the Judy Center office to ensure that ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) families receive information in their native language.
  • Support districtwide family engagement initiatives.
  • Attend quarterly meetings.
  • Attend professional development opportunities to increase family engagement capacity.
  • Other duties as assigned.


ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
