Posted on June 17, 2021 , , , A truck driver drives a standard clutch platform truck (which may weigh over 50,000 lbs.) to make deliveries, or pick up lumber.

**Responsibilities**

The driver directs the loading of lumber, throws straps over the load, pulls them to secure the load and ties them down. They climb up to 136 on load to cover with tarp and secure the tarp. The tarps weigh up to 85 lbs, and measure up to 35 X 44. They also remove the tarps, lay them out on the ground and fold them up to be fork lifted onto the truck. For hand-off deliveries, a driver may lift and carry lumber weighing 50 to 100 lbs or more, and may load and unload cartons of material of 50 lbs or more.

Drivers must be trained as a handler and fork lift driver and usually perform those duties while training and during slow periods. Drivers sit and drive 80% of the time, lift 150 lbs, bend down and twist from side to side for hand-off deliveries and must be capable of climbing lumber loads up to 136. Drivers must have a Class B CDL license and follow all State and Federal DOT rules and regulations.

All SAFETY procedures must be followed when lifting, bending, twisting, and climbing around lumber.

**Qualifications**

* Trained as a handler and fork lift driver.

* Able to lift 150 lbs and bend down and twist from side to side

* Capable of climbing lumber loads up to 136

* Have a Class B CDL license and follow all State and Federal DOT rules and regulations.
