Position Summary:

Schafer Industries is currently seeking aMachine Operatorfor its Schafer Drivelineoperation inBlacklick, OH.This is a full time position with great benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K. Currently offering a $1500 sign on bonus!

Job Summary:

The Machine Operator I position operates mills and/or lathes under the direct supervision of the Production Team Lead or Manufacturing Engineer.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs typical machine operations to support production, including CNC equipment to load and unload parts
  • Performs hand operations such as de-burring, surface finish preparation, and assembly
  • Performs basic inspection operations to detect defective material or questionable conditions and reports to lead or supervisor.
  • Responsible for the quality of products produced
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations.
  • Ability to operate a forklift with certification
  • Perform multiple tasks (operate multiple machines simultaneously)
  • Must be familiar with the basic machine functions in order to perform the tasks stated above.
  • Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance concerningmachine set-up.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Adhere to Safety Environmental policies
  • Ability to understand written work procedures and instructions
  • Ability to perform a basic inspection
  • Math skills
  • Understanding of part drawings (blueprints) and symbols
  • Understand general cutting tool identification and applications (drills, taps, inserts, tool bits, reamers, end mills, tool holders, saws)
  • Understand the appropriate use of inspection equipment (dial bore gages, calipers, micrometers, test dial indicators, digital height gauge, go/no-go gages)


Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions.The noise level in the work environment and job site can be loud.

No travel is expected for this position.
