Job description

The Talent Acquisition department hires qualified candidates to fill positions which contribute to the overall strategic success of Howard University. Hiring staff "for fit" makes significant contributions to Howard University's overall mission.

  • Responsible for making recommendations in the areas of compensation, staff selection, disciplinary actions, complaints, staff performance appraisal and similar supervisory duties. Plans, assigns, and evaluates the work of subordinates for effective operation and results of the unit.
  • Internal Establishes contact with appropriate executives, administrators, faculty, students and staff of the department and the university at large. External contacts include HIV subject matter experts, representatives from other colleges and universities, visitors, the local medical community, and the general public.
  • Provide leadership and vision for the work unit.
  • Set goals for the work unit and organizes resources to achieve the goals.
  • Ensures program/project goals are in alignment with the university mission statement and sponsor's workplan.
  • Monitor expenditures across multiple budgets/projects.
  • Responsible for supervision and goal setting of professional and support staff.
  • Proactively identifies solutions to problems/concerns and makes recommendations for change.
  • Contributes as a strategic member of an administrative regional leadership team.
  • Responsible for the developing, implementing, and maintaining area budget. Responsible for providing strategic reports and recommendations to a regional consortium on the activities in assigned areas.
  • Represent the department on university and community committees.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
