MCDOT Division of Transit Services seeks a highly skilled and experienced MLS Manager III (Chief , Intelligent Transportation System (ITS ) Equipment & System s ). This position provides strategic development and implementation of new bus initiatives that affect planning, operations and customer facing technology system s related to all technology related software, innovation grants, fare collection system s and fareboxes as well as bus control and bus communications and automated dispatch system s with a staff of direct and indirect reports both union and non-union.

**Responsibilities**

The incumbent must successfully interact with outside vendors on business, contract and program management issues, as well as maintenance and technology matters both successfully and to the Countys operational and fiscal benefit. The incumbent must also coordinate with internal partners on both technological and as well as contractual issues, as well as support internal clients.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

Oversee the control and accountability of the Transit Electronic System s and revenue collection.

Make decisions and solve administrative and operational problems as they arise in the unit.

Analyze, interpret, and apply the laws, regulations, policies and procedures pertinent to Transit Services Information System s .

Supervise and monitor all safety and security aspects of revenue transfer personnel and system users to preserve the integrity of the Transit Electronic System s .

Supervise the Transit Information Technicians who are responsible for the analysis of data for all electronic equipment

Represent the County at Regional Farebox meetings.

**Requirements**

The ideal candidate will be comfortable making recommendations, remain calm under pressure, and be responsive and proactive. The ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with senior leaders, community leaders, community representatives, representatives of other departments and agencies, and external stakeholders is essential.

The position requires someone who is an excellent communicator and listener, approachable, adaptable to changing needs, and has experience building successful partnerships and collaborations.

As a manager/supervisor working in a union environment, this position has a responsibility for fostering a positive labor relations environment based on mutual trust, respect, and cooperation.

The individual selected for this position will be considered an Essential Employee. Essential employees must report to work during a period of general emergency or liberal leave.

This position requires the ability to attend meetings or perform work at locations outside the office.

To ensure a positive workplace and to comply with federal, state and County laws, the incumbent is responsible for completing mandatory trainings within the first three to six months or within the specified timeframe.

**Additional Information**

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation s Division of Transit Services coordinates transit services in Montgomery County. Transit accomplishes an essential mobility mission of the County, connecting people, communities, workplaces, educational institutions, recreational opportunities, and many other essential destinations. The Division plans, schedules and manages the Countys Ride On bus system consisting of County owned and operated buses. The Ride On system is designed to complement the service provided by the other transit providers in the County and provides almost 30 million trips per year.
