Overview:

Do you have true passion for making a difference in the lives of others, with commitment to quality, competency-based educational programs? The Director of Nursing provides leadership and vision for the University nursing programs including strategic planning, program innovation, program outcome evaluation and operational management. The Director of Nursing will provide leadership in teaching, scholarship, and professional practice. . The Director will also participate in university outreach, development, and health-related community activities as well as foster a positive accreditation climate that creates an environment that attracts talented faculty and staff and promotes excellence in teaching. The Director of Nursing also is expected to work collaboratively with instructional faculty and academic support programs to facilitate student success and strengthens the reputation of the university by promoting excellence in student service, advocacy, and curriculum.



Functions:

Your contributions will include:

  • Provide campus specific functional oversight of the University nursing programs
  • Provide creative, focused and articulate leadership and manage with distinction
  • Oversee admissions to the nursing program.
  • Develop affiliation agreements with hospitals and other providers
  • Foster excellence in research, teaching, and practice
  • Attract, mentor, provide advice, and retain students and faculty members
  • Guide curriculum development as internal and external needs evolve
  • Ensure all activities related to the accreditation/reaccreditation of all nursing related programs meet or exceed standards
  • Manage faculty to include: evaluations, appointments, compliance and discipline
  • Provide leadership in exploring, recommending, and evaluating emerging nursing curriculum
  • Effectively address the academic concerns of students and faculty
  • Ensure nursing degree programs are optimized to meet the needs of the industry
  • Keep the Campus Dean informed and State Program Director aware of operational and other activities in the department and participate on committees and working groups as necessary
  • Champion of our most important goal teaching, mentoring, embracing and enabling our students to achieve their education and career goals.
  • Serve on committees, ensuring faculty voices are heard in local decision-making
  • Participation in maintaining courses and programs curriculum that is current to meet the needs of the communities we serve and local businesses who hire our graduates
  • Continuous contributions to the advancement of innovation in the classroom.
  • Participate in planning, scheduling and curriculum development, interdisciplinary functions

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree required. PhD in Nursing preferred; MSN with EdD will be considered.
  • Unencumbered license as a RN (18VAC90-20-70.C. and 18VAC90-20-90.A.3.)
  • Teaching experience at the baccalaureate level
  • Significant management and leadership experience in a university with demonstrated ability to lead academic programs
  • Record of successful working relationships with internal and external constituencies, including faculty, students, alumni, and the larger professional information management community
  • Community service experience
