Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting accounting functions, forecasting and the monthly close process for CHG Group, Inc. (CHGi), the U.S. Headquarters for Chemring Group PLC. The Senior Accountant ensures that all internal reporting is completed accurately and within the Company's deadlines.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

* Manage month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing including creating and posting journal entries

* Perform monthly balance sheet and income statement (General Ledger) fluctuation analysis

* Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations

* Coordinate weekly cash reconciliation and forecasting activities for U.S. by reviewing cash reports from business units (BU) and presenting to CFO

* Ensure data integrity and provide report analysis, setting up vendors in the accounting system, and communicating and coordinating with other departments

* Work closely with the Senior Finance Manager to ensure accurate financial reporting

* Identify areas for operational improvement to improve efficiency and effectiveness

* Support audit related activities (internal, external, insurance and government)

* Assist in performing various duties in government contracting including +allocation of indirect costs, changes in cost accounting practices, investigations and disputes, regulatory compliance and risk mitigation

* Complete and submit accurate and timely monthly reporting package, forecast reports, etc.

* Comply with government and corporate laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

* Special projects and other duties as assigned

Requirements

EDUCATION

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

* MBA or Active CPA a plus

EXPERIENCE

* Minimum eight years of experience in accounting or auditing

* Prior experience working in a manufacturing and/or defense environment

* Minimum two years of experience in government accounting

* Experience using Microsoft D365 preferred

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS

* Must be eligible to obtain and/or maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance commensurate with the level of facility clearance.

* Comprehensive understanding of government contracting accounting regulations

* Knowledge of and experience with GAAP and IFRS desired

* Proficient in MS Office Suite; highly proficient in Excel

* Knowledge of financial accounting principles, practices and procedures

* Solid understanding of accrual-based accounting

* Knowledge of internal control systems and procedures

* Must be detail oriented, well organized and a self-starter

* Comfortable working through challenges

* Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling or otherwise moving objects weighing up to 10 pounds occasionally and/or a negligible amount of weight frequently. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Use of computer.
