* **Job Summary**

+ Under the direction of the PIMS leadership, this position contributes to the achievement of department goals and objectives across all Patient Information Management Service. The PIMS Team Leader assures standard daily work and acts as a subject matter expert for HIMS and Registration. This position assures the integrity and completeness of the electronic medical record and acts as a liaison to the Corporate Coding Management Team. The PIMS team leader levels the load in registration and assist the PIMS Supervisor with monitoring and tracking daily deliverables for our customers. Assures excellent customer service by the rest of the team through their interactions and example.

* **Minimum Qualifications**

+ **Education/Training**

* High School Graduate; Associates or Bachelors degree preferred in a health care major .

+

+ **Experience**

* 3-5 years of experience in health information management and or registration management

* 2 years experience as a Patient Information Management Specialist

+

+ **License/Certification/Registration**

* Prefer certification in Health Information Management or Revenue Cycle Management

+

+ **Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**

* Joint Commission regulations for the record of care

* Successful pass of MedStar Registration exam

* Ability to communicate effectively

* Proficient Computer skills - Microsoft Office

* HIPAA policies on confidentiality and release of information

* **Primary Duties and Responsibilities**

+ Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.

+ Functions as a team leader in daily coordination of standard work in HIMS and or Registration and provides guidance for the future.

+ Assist PIMS leadership with scheduling and communication of initiatives as needed.

+ Assures the Integrity of the Medical Record and is proficient in all document management functions including deficiency management, provider chart completion and suspension procedures.

+ Assists in meeting the needs of our customers to include patients, physicians, other hospital departments, Central Billing and Corporate Coding Operations.

+ Monitors productivity, co-pay collections and data quality for PIMS associates. Provides input into the associate evaluation process.

+ Assist in the training and orientation of PIMS associates in both HIMS and Registration.

+ Communicates needs effectively with physician offices to support chart completion and denials management.

+ Acts as a resource to the registration area and levels the load as needed.

+ Provides leadership around hospital and departmental initiatives and changes.

+ Works effectively within and between departments and promotes a positive patient first environment.

+ Maintains knowledge and identifies areas of self-growth
