Sayres and Associates has been providing excellence in service to the Federal Government since 2001.Sayres is currently seeking an experienced Mid-Level Systems Engineer with an active SECRET clearance, verifiable in DISS in Washington, DC.Responsibilities:As a Mid-Level Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in providing engineering and technical support for a wide range of shipbuilding activities. Your expertise will contribute to concept studies, feasibility studies, preliminary design, contract design, detail design, construction activities, and independent design reviews. Additionally, you will provide essential support for shipboard installation and special studies related to ships, boats, craft, ship systems, and shipboard equipment.Responsibilities:* Provide comprehensive engineering and technical support throughout the shipbuilding process, ensuring the successful execution of concept studies, feasibility studies, and preliminary design activities.* Collaborate on contract design activities and detail design and construction activities, utilizing your expertise to optimize ship systems and equipment.* Conduct independent design reviews to assess the efficiency, safety, and compliance of ship systems and components.* Offer technical expertise for in-service ship design and engineering activities, ensuring the continuous improvement and functionality of existing vessels.* Provide critical support during shipboard installation, ensuring seamless integration and functionality of ship systems and equipment.* Participate in special studies, conducting thorough analyses and providing valuable insights to enhance shipbuilding processes and systems.Additional Duties:* Apply your knowledge of DoD/DoN procedures and Policies (DoD 5000 process) to ensure compliance with regulations and streamline project execution.* Support projects involving Foreign Military Sales (FMS) and Military Sealift Command procedures and processes, facilitating international collaboration and expanding market opportunities.* Demonstrate supervisory experience, providing guidance and leadership to junior engineering staff to support their professional growth and development.* Communicate effectively with SES/Flag level personnel, ensuring smooth and efficient communication with high-level stakeholders.* Leverage your shipbuilding experience to offer valuable insights and technical expertise during systems engineering activities.Qualifications & Clearance Requirements:Minimum Skill Sets of Qualified Candidates:* Bachelor's degree in engineering or business Management discipline.* 3+ years of experience in DoD/DoN program management, Government technical management, or Industry business management.* Active Secret Clearance verifiable in DISS/JPAS.Preferred Skill Sets of Qualified Candidates:* Master's degree in engineering or business Management discipline.* Possession of a Professional Engineer License, showcasing your commitment to excellence in engineering.* 5+ years of experience in DoD/DoN program management, Government technical management, or Industry business management.The position description is only meant to be a representative summary of the major responsibilities and accountabilities performed by the incumbents of this position.
