Network Development Engineer - Tyson's, VA

Job description

Seeking a highly skilled Network Development Engineer to oversee and implement our network services/systems and cloud computing strategy. This role combines traditional network engineering expertise with modern DevOps practices, focusing on network automation in a cloud environment.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and operate network services/systems, including hardware, virtual environments, and cloud computing infrastructure.
  • Develop and oversee cloud adoption plans, application design in cloud environments, and manage cloud networks by connecting remote resources.
  • Set up and manage cloud storage and computing systems, ensuring compliance with security policies.
  • Work with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD) for continuous integration and delivery, emphasizing network automation.
  • Utilize scripting and programming languages (Python, Bash, Ruby, PowerShell) for network automation tasks.
  • Implement, maintain, and improve network security practices, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in network and cloud environments.
  • Provide IT support for technical issues related to internal and remote staff, including network support for company partners.
  • Monitor overall network and system health and security, including performance and availability indicators.
  • Conduct systems security and compliance audits, and maintain documentation for network problems and resolutions.
  • Participate in the design, configuration, and monitoring of LAN, WAN, and wireless networks, ensuring efficient traffic flow and performance.
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery plans and procedures for network systems.

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field with 5 years of experience
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS), LAN/WAN pathways, and cybersecurity principles.
  • Experience with network administration, including routers, switches, and other hardware.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management tools (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools
  • Familiarity with cloud backup, archival processes, and network security architecture.
  • Proficient in network technologies like SNMP, STP, FHRP, GRE, IPsec, BGP.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
