To learn more about Berry, visit Responsibilities 3.1 Prepares boxes for packers. 3.2 May be required to operate the box machines, tape and glue type. 3.3 Moves packed materials into staging area. 3.4 Inspects bottles on assigned machines every 2 hours and records findings on check sheets. 3.5 Verifies and labels packed boxes. 3.6 Partial wrap all finished product after QA inspection and pallet tag. 3.7 Transfers all palletized product to the warehouse by using a hand truck. 3.8 Relieves Packers for breaks and lunch. 3.9 Performs all machine repacks before the end of the shift. 3.10 Reworks red-tagged product at the machine when possible. 3.11 Keeps bottles off the floor at all times. 3.12 Keeps work area neat and clean. 3.13 All open cartons must be covered. 3.14 No extra boxes on the production floor. 3.15 Bring out necessary supplies for assigned machines. 3.16 Reports and accidents and/or safety issues to the Supervisor immediately. 3.17 Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications 4.1 Skills 4.1.1 Must have the ability to remember packing sequence and pack patterns. 4.1.2 Ability to carry out work orders, make decisions on bottle jams. 4.1.3 Must be able to meet deadlines. 4.2 Education and/or Equivalent Experience 4.2.1 Basic math skills. To be able to calculate the number of bottles that can fit into a box and pack bottles in different sequences and in numerical sequence of box labels. 4.2.2 Must be able to speak, write and read effectively in English, in order to understand packing labels, travelers, work orders, safety notices, and other forms of written communication. 4.2.3 Ability to print legibly and to fill out forms. 4.2.4 Must be punctual. 4.2.5 Must be ready to begin packing immediately at the workstation. 4.2.6 May, at company's discretion, need to have experience as a Packer 4.3 Physical Requirements/Work Environment 4.3.1 Must be able to work twelve (12) hours per day with two (2) 15-minute breaks and one (1) 30-minute lunch. Must be able to work overtime on short notice. 4.3.2 (Obsolete Temperature information due to facility Climate control) 4.3.3 The noise level on the production floor is 90dB. 4.3.4 There are fumes on the production floor: plastic, cleaning solvents, and oils when heated. 4.3.5 Must wear protective foot coverings such as, rubber-soled, steel-tipped shoes. Also, must wear earplugs, Safety glasses and hairnets when on the production floor. No jewelry except a wedding band without stones. 4.3.6 Will frequently lift up to 35 lbs. overhead, up to 6 feet high. Also, will be stooping to pick up bottles that are dropped approximately 4% of the day. 4.3.7 Must be able to visually detect bottle defects as instructed. 4.3.8 Required to read labels on cartons and match them against the label samples provided in the job packets. 4.3.9 Constant bending, twisting and standing are required on the average of 80% of the day. 4.3.10 Utilities must be able to carry boxes up to 35 lbs. 70 - 80 times per day. 4.3.11 Must have manual control to construct and line boxes with plastic bags, seal filled boxes, label the box and place the box on a skid. 4.3.12 Must be able to operate a manual pallet jack, which requires pulling a load the distance of up to 450 feet. 5.0 Organizational Relationship: 5.1 Reports to the Production Supervisor We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.
